How the game works

Pick your name packs and a mode. In forehead mode you hold the phone facing the room — everyone sees the name except you, your friends give clues, and you tap right for got it, left for pass before the timer ends. In classic mode the guesser asks yes/no questions out loud, with three optional hints when they're stuck. Scores tally automatically; no paper, no sticky notes.

How party mode works

One phone, foreheads up, the room shouting clues against the timer — and a classic yes/no mode when you'd rather interrogate. No sticky notes, no pens, no setup.

Add your players

Round up 2–12 players, pick your name packs, and choose forehead or classic mode.

Hold the phone up

On your turn the name faces the room — everyone sees it but you. Friends shout clues; tap the right half for got it, the left half to pass.

Score and pass it on

When the timer ends your score locks in and the phone moves to the next player. Highest total after the last round wins.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Who Am I game?
Who Am I is a guessing game where one player is assigned a secret identity — a celebrity, a movie character, an animal — that everyone can see except them. They ask yes/no questions or take clues from the room until they figure out who they are. It's the classic forehead game from parties and road trips, also played with sticky notes or headbands.
How do you play the Who Am I game?
Each player gets a name they can't see. In the forehead version, hold the name facing the room and let everyone give clues while a timer runs. In the classic version, ask yes/no questions out loud — “Am I real?”, “Am I alive?”, “Am I an actor?” — until you guess it or give up. This app handles names, timers, and scoring on one phone.
What are good Who Am I game questions?
Start broad, then narrow: “Am I a real person?”, “Am I alive today?”, “Am I famous for movies?”, “Am I a man?”, “Would kids know me?”. Good questions split the possibilities in half each time. Our questions page lists 100 ready-to-use examples in a smart asking order.
What names should I use for the Who Am I game?
Pick names everyone in the room actually knows — that's the only rule that matters. This game ships 600+ tested names across celebrities, movie characters, Disney, superheroes, animals, historical figures, and more, each tagged by difficulty and age so nobody gets stuck with someone they've never heard of.
Can I play Who Am I online for free?
Yes — this game is completely free, with no sign-up and no app to install. Open it in any browser, pick your packs, and pass one phone around. It even works offline once loaded, so it's perfect for road trips and flights.
Is Who Am I the same as Heads Up or Guess Who?
They're cousins. Heads Up is the timed forehead format — which our forehead mode plays for free. Guess Who is the board game where you eliminate faces by asking yes/no questions — closest to our classic mode. Who Am I is the original party version of both: one secret identity, the room knows, you don't.
